FAQs

  • A RN Psychotherapist, is a Registered Nurse who has completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing with extra, intensive, and extensive training in mental health and psychotherapeutic interventions.

In Ontario, all nurses must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Psychotherapy has been legislated as a controlled act that only members of 6 Colleges can perform, of which the CNO is one. Registered Nurses in good standing with the CNO can perform the controlled act of psychotherapy (Yup, I am a member in good standing with the CNO!)

For more information, please see the CNOs document on nurses performing the controlled act of psychotherapy.

  • There's not a specific number of sessions that applies to everyone. Our work together is helping you explore and process your emotions at a pace that feels right for you. Some clients start to see significant changes in a few months, while others might take longer.

We will have ongoing conversations about your progress and how you're feeling about the work we're doing. Therapy can come to a close when you feel more empowered, when you notice a significant reduction in your symptoms, and when you feel you have the tools to handle future challenges on your own. It's a collaborative decision, and we'll make sure it feels right for you.

  • My standard fee is $125.00 per session. Each session lasts about 50 minutes.

  • The frequency of therapy sessions can vary depending on your specific needs and goals. Typically, I recommend starting with weekly sessions. This regularity helps build momentum and allows us to make consistent progress.

While weekly sessions are a good starting point, some people may benefit from more frequent sessions, especially if you're going through a particularly challenging time. On the other hand, as you start to feel better and more confident in managing your feelings and situations, we might move to bi-weekly sessions or even monthly check-ins.
